Tuesday 26th Oct

Today we began planning our presentation. Discussing what we could do. We decided on maybe a powerpoint presentation, with some large brainstorming diagrams on poster paper. We were thinking and writing notes about what we were going to say in our presentation. Everyone was at this meeting. Next time we want to start making the brainstorm diagrams and powerpoint.  

Thursday 21st oct

Today in lecture we learned about Divergence and convergence. We decided What part of the process we are on. We then went to the library and worked on research for the different aspects of what we went to incorporate in our product. We all focussed on different things, Eva focussed on patterns and symbols behind the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. Tom looked at colours that were used in the time of the Vikings. Pete focussed on materials and Vicki looked ad different shapes. Joel and Christina weren't present. Next time we are going to start working on our presentation for week 7. 

finishing off

Today we made the finishing touches to our individual sketch books, discussed our idea and started thinking about our presentation in a couple of weeks. the whole team was present. Eva printed her photos she took from Colchester castle to put in the mood board to represent history. Next time we plan to make more plans for our presentation and continue developing our design.

Third Group Meeting

We came into uni today and worked on our mood and research boards and brainstorming. we have deffinately agreed on the battle of Maldon to base our project on. We have agreed to all go and get photos of existing furniture in our topic area and historic areas, to go on our mood boards and to gain inspiration.

Second Group Meeting

Today we met again in the library, whole team present. We decided on the idea of the battle of maldon to base our project on. Today we researched the battle of Maldon and we researched pictures and ideas for our research board and mood boards. We also worked on our brainstorming.

First group meeting

Today we met in the library and discussed our thoughts and started coming up with ideas for our product, we searched for pictures, researched the historic event we are going to base our furniture product on and began brainstorming. We decided that we are going to be doing the furniture design and something that is weather proof, so we are going to try to bring that in also.

Design Principles (Class 1)

A daily activity that we chose to show methodology was cooking a meal. We chose this as we feel there are many different parts to consider. The meal I will discuss is a roast dinner.

There are different ingredients in a roast dinner that will be put together on one plate. This is why we chose the design method of articulation. We also chose convergence as we could add different things to it to change the outcome, or taste, e.g. salt, pepper or gravy. Sutainibilty could also be an option as you could change the way you make, and what you add too the meal over time.
